How Much Does an Uncontested Divorce Cost?

An uncontested divorce refers to a divorce application wherein the parties only seek a divorce. In other words, if the parties to the application have already resolved any outstanding issues, such as property division, child custody and access and support, one or both may apply to the court to obtain a divorce on an uncontested basis.  The divorce is uncontested because there are no issues in dispute.  Either spouse or both together may apply to obtain a divorce.

In some cases, an application that starts as an uncontested divorce may become contested if one spouse responds and asks the court to address issues that may be in dispute arising out of the marriage. In such a situation, the granting of a divorce is put on hold until the issues in dispute have been resolved (unless of course a judge allows the divorce to be granted while the issues are adjudicated).

Our law office in Aurora offers uncontested divorces for a flat fee of $600.00 plus H.S.T and disbursements.  For this flat fee amount, you obtain the assistance of lawyer in obtaining a divorce.  This flat fee amount does not include tax and disbursements, which are the fixed costs that are necessary to obtain the divorce, including the court filing fee and the fees of a process server, if necessary, to serve the application on your spouse and to file it with the court.
